Dear All
At past conferences, there often were few or no sessions specifically aimed at interpreters. I would like to change this and run at least one or two sessions on interpreting-related subjects at future conferences. But I need your contributions to make this possible.
If you are thinking about attending one or more of the three autumn conferences and have an idea for a session on interpreting that you'd like to run in French or English I want to hear all about it! Please send me an e-mail with your suggestion and I'll give you access to a speaker form where you can fill in the details.
I would also like to hear your program suggestions for sessions on interpreting. Please enter those in this forum topic.
Best regards
Rebekka

Chers membres,
Est-ce que quelqu'un veut animer une session sur des logiciels qui augmentent sa productivité ? Je pense notamment à la reconnaissance vocale, gestion de projets, TAO, OCR, Skype, intelliwebsearch, etc.
Anyone interested in running a session on software that helps you save time? This could include any of the following: voice recognition, project management software, CAT tools, OCR, Skype, intelliwebsearch, etc.
Thanks,
John

Hi all, (or yall from where I grew up)
I found the following post interesting about the basics you should know for transcription.
http://www.proz.com/topic/77879
Even if we're not in the subtitling business, at some point, I believe we're proposed a transcription job (or curious about this branch in translation).
I would like to have an intro to transcription on the Conference program; and maybe even subtitling, out of curiosity.
Frankly, I like variety, and I'd accept such a job just to be able to experience something new, but I'd prefer being informed beforehand on the basics expected from such work, such as form and procedure.
Back in the day I did transcription work (on Word) as an intern for HBO, but I had to create my own system for transcription and I wore down the cassettes with all my rewind...pause...(type type type).....play...rewind... pause.
I still have no idea if my "time stamps" were done correctly.
It now seems a little antiquated when looking at the possibilities available today, and I'm ready for a brush up.
What do you all (y'all ) think? Would you be interested too?
