If the company is large enough to have hundreds or thousands of translators, I would expect them to use a massmail program. I know from experience that it only takes a few minutes to use merge fields that pull the data from the database (which I also assume a larger company would have set up).
Not doing this is IMHO just lazy and shows a lack of respect for the "Vendors".
