In comparing both Memoq and Trados, I have noticed that, whilst Trados splits segments after each full stop, Memoq instead seems to split segments after each line break. Why is this? Memoq's splitting of my ST slowed down my translation as FR and EN have different syntactic structures.

settings for segmentation rules in both tools

In both tools - MemoQ and Studio - there are settings where you can define the segmentation rules and change which character is used to split segments. Not sure which versions you use, but in the latest versions (2015), check the help regardin... See more

memoQ has a better "join" function; you can assemble manually the broken sentences; of course, for a large amount you have to attempt the manipulation the segmentation criteria
