Dear ProZians,

I am using MemoQ 2013 and OpenOffice 4.1.2. I received a text in PDF to translate, did an OCR and formatted the text in Spanish including bold, italics, etc., but when I opened the .odt document in MemoQ, there was no formatting and letters with diacritics such as á, é, í, etc. all disappeared and there was a space instead. Would anyone know how to fix this issue?

Cheers,

Paul

I don’t know and, most probably, no one on the Earth will know until you share the problem file. Just a quick tip: try resetting the character formatting to the paragraph style defaults (select a text and hit Ctrl+M).

If you think you can help, I'd gladly send you the file. Just get in touch!

Also, I do not want to reset character formatting as then I would have to open the translated file and format all the text - add bold, italics, underlined parts, etc.

I thought there would be more than one person with this issue, but perhaps I'll just have to buy Microsoft Word!

If anyone has the same issue, I recommend downloading AbiWord - it seems to have worked for me.

If you prefer e-mailing it, no problem, do it, I’ll have a look.
