There's lot of money to be made in the translation industry - unless you're a translator!

Over 190 translation start-ups since 2005 and how much they received from investors:

Maybe some SV funding should be redirected to "fact-checking" and "journalism" Oct 12, 2015

What a terrible "article". 3 out of the top 5 companies (which account for $121M of the $231M listed in the title) are not translation companies nor in the translation industry.

Yes, this is a car company. Homepage | Crunchbase

5.) Machine Zone, Inc.

Machine Zone develops applications and games for users of social networks and mobile devices. Crunchbase

I stopped after the top 5 as I have better things to do, but you get the point. I think the only thing we can learn from this "article" is that Crunchbase by itself is not a reliable source of data.

Please do not believe such numbers Oct 13, 2015

This is the common trick of these so-called entrepreneurs, innovators.

They always announce incredible numbers to show themselves as the market leader, top company, very successful, very important company etc, etc, etc. Not a new trick but unfortunately it still fools.

They always talk about millions untill they face a problem.

Please also note that they did not forget to attack "traditional service providers" again. This is another common trick of these

Noted. Just Crunchbase. Oct 13, 2015

Thank you for your comments.

The companies in Crunchbase are tagged by contributors or company representatives, so some error is possible. Our intent was to show the steady (and seemingly) growing money flowing into translation firms as categorized by Crunchbase, as was stated in the article.

Keep the comments coming and please highlight any other story ideas you think are relevant to our audience. Cheers!
