Hello, I've got a reference Translation Memory with software strings. It would be useful if I could import this TM to a Multiterm termbase, but is it possible? Maciej.

Do you mean the classical Trados or SDL Trados Studio 2009? | | | Maciej Pomorski Poland Local time: 19:25 Member (2005) German to Polish + ... TOPIC STARTER
I've both Trados Studio and Trados 2007 installed on my computer, but it seems that there's no straightforward function export a TM as a termbase in any of those versions.

It's possible, but not with SDL software. The easiest is probably: - Export TM into TMX with Trados - Download and install apsic xbench (free) - Open TMX with xbench and export into tabbed text file - Open tabbed text file with Excel, review, add column headers, save, import into Multiterm.

First, I would prepare an excel file with 2 columns - target and source segment out of TM. Second, I would import the excel file into Multiterm.

Hi, You could open the tmx in Studio as if it was a transnlatable file so you have an sdlxliff and then use the Bilingual Preview Generator (free tool on the OpenExchange website) to create an excel file with the source language in the left column and the target in the right. I did what FarkasAndras suggested and it worked! I converted the tmx file to a tab-delimited text file, imported it into Excel and then converted it to a termbase. The process was quite quick although the TMX had 14000 segments. Thanks to everybody for help! Maciej.

Regards Paul Apologies, I'm not familiar with Studio so I didn't know it can do this sort of thing. Although I'd say if you have to install something, you're probably better off installing xbench... it's a really nice tool to have.

How do I export the TM into TMX? Why the hell is this not a simple drag-and-drop operation? Trados sucks again.
