What next...? Oct 11, 2011

Hope I am not being thick but I have enabled billing and am not sure what to do next. The "API key code" - is that the same as the Order Number Google provides? If so where are we supposed to stick it? I think this is the same as Magdalena was asking but can someone please spell it out in idiotproof terms for me. Thank you

Getting the API key code 2 Oct 11, 2011

After enabling billing at https://code.google.com/apis/console/ if you go the page "API Access" you will find an entry "API Key" and a long code of letters and numbers.

Unfortunately, until your software is updated there is nowhere to "stick it".

Updating the software Oct 11, 2011

Thanks John - I have found it. Until my software is updated there is nowhere to "stick it"... do you mean until Trados update the software?

@Charles Oct 11, 2011

That's because it's in memoQ. Sorry, just wanted to point out how it can/has been implemented.

Michael

GT4T trial Oct 12, 2011

I just tried out this software and it eliminates the problem with Google. I feel it is worth buying.

I don't think SDL can continue advertising google integration as part of their offering, since it is so limited it becomes useless. or maybe remove it and offer SDL Studio for less?

So true.
And less bugs to fix would have been nice, too.

Here is a workaround until the plugin is in place (or for those who won't cash out):

It requires two programs that are available for free:

SDLXLIFF Converter (http://www.sdl.com/en/language-technology/sdl-openexchange/AppDetails.aspx?appid=2)
Xbench (http://www.apsic.com/en/products_xbench.html)

PROCEDURE:

1. Use SDLXLIFF Convertor to convert the SDLXLIFF file (the one you are translating) to an Excel file
2. Open Excel file created in 1. in Excel, save it as delimited TXT
3. Run the TXT created in 2. through Google Translator's toolkit
4. Open the translated TXT created in 3. in Excel, copy it to column 2 in the Excel file you created in 1.
5. Save the Excel file created in 4. as delimited txt
6. Convert the delimited txt created in 5. to TMX using Xbench

You now have a TM containing all the segments translated through GT.

The whole process takes around 5-10 minutes

Please plugin now Oct 12, 2011

I said it too soon! I activated the billing and then just tried a pair of sentences. It worked, but only because I just tried "a pair" of sentences. Tomorrow in the morning I have started working and still the same problem.

I really hope the guys from SDL will soon launch the necessary plugin. Please, please, please ;=)

Great Bjørnar!!!

I tried what you said but the SDLXLIFF Convertor says it can not find the files, although I clearly specify where they are.

Any clue?

Thanks!
