Open the folder where the termbase file is located, choose and delete all associated files ended with -(source language).mtf and -(target language).mtf. Return to Studio 2009, and open the termbase. It works fine! I don't know if this apply to Studio 2011. I just started using SDL Trados 2011 the other day and encountered the same problem. Just when I was about to give up in despair after two hours of tinkering with the program in vain, I decided to make a last effort and give Shang's method a try. Incredibly, it worked! Thank you, Shang!

Shang's method did not work for me. Repairing Multiterm did not work either. Index settings are correct. View/Term Recognition settings are correct. SDL should be ashamed. ▲ Collapse | | | Hitlist issue | Aug 17, 2014 |
Hello. Please don't argue, I have a question: I use Trados 2014 and the problem is (as it was in Trados 2011) when I get a large segment, my Termbase does not recognise all the words it COULD recognise in this segment. I mean these terms ARE IN TERMBASE but they do not get recognized, are not shown in Term recognition window and are not used in Autosuggestion. Does anybodyu know what is wrong? and What could I do with that? Thanks in advance. | | | As mentioned above… | Aug 18, 2014 |
…this bug is widespread and has been known for years, and yet by now there’s, AFAIK, been next to no reaction on the part of SDL in its respect, but for Paul’s post here: http://www.proz.com/forum/sdl_trados_support/271831-complete_and_utter_frustration_with_multiterm.html#2319155 To quote him: There is a known issue that may at play here which is that Studio stops recognising terms if the term is located too far into a long segment. I think it's around 250 characters … … I can confirm that we are working on removing the Java components from Studio altogether so it is not needed to work with MultiTerm. This should be available this year but I don't have a release date for this yet as it is too early to confirm … Time will tell whether they’ll actually ever do it, but in the mean time if you’re using termbases for translating and not for reviewing you can use TermInjector as a temporary workaround. | |

Thanks Andras! | Sep 19, 2014 |
András Szabados wrote: I just spent about an hour trying to sort the same issue out. It turned out that there were two term recognition windows open on top of each other, even though I exited the program, reinstalled MultiTerm, repaired it in Control Panel, restarted etc. Both windows remained open, but only one was visible. The second one on top behaved just as described in the comments above. All I had to do was close both windows and open a new one and... yes! Couldn't believe my eyes, it worked. I understand that this may not solve everyone's problem, but if it only helps a single colleague, I guess the comment was worth it. Thanks so much Andras, it did work for me! Your comment was surely worth it, even after more than a year!! ciao, Francesca | | | one more option | Jul 31, 2015 |
Was facing the same issue in SDL2011, SP2. The following method worked for me (after many other attempts failed). In the SDL Editor window, Main Menu (file, edit, View... ) 1. Go to View 2. Click on 'Term Recognition' And the term recognition started to work again (after inexplicable malfunction in a normally working file). Was as simple as that (keeping fingers crossed). Studio and MultiTerm are both up to date. I have a termbase set, checked, double-, triple- and quadruple-checked, removed, indexes deleted, added back, voodooed and exorcised. I don't have a security suite installed. Short segments (2-5 words). An intensive Trados user since 1998. Term recognition worked like a charm for a couple of days then suddenly disappeared - no term recognition, no red lines, no autofill. Term add and term search still work just fine. Term add and term search still work just fine. When I try to add a term which is already added, I get notified. The termbase is there, just not accessible by term recognition any more. I am working on a glossary-type list of 30000+ segments and all my terminology research is there but maddeningly I have to manually check each term (if I remember that it was already added). I want to scream and throw my computer at the wall! Please, anyone?
