Multiterm Glossary conversion replaces Spanish with Chinese (?)

Dear all,
after conversion of a glossary from Multiterm 5 to Multiterm-XML format all Spanish entries were replaced with what seems to be Chinese. Languages other than Spanish were not affected.
Anyone out there with the same problem and a solution?
Thx

Bug Jan 8, 2014

Hi jlangner

Sadly, this is a bug that appeared with 2011 and is still applicable in the latest version.

Do you have maybe still the SDL MultiTerm Desktop 2009 installer, to install 2009?
There you do not have such problems with the MultiTerm Convert application and you can convert the termbase without the resulting scrambled characters.

That is at the moment the only workaround.

partial solution Jan 8, 2014

Thx Richard!
Found a partial solution meanwhile: Choosing Chinese instead of Spanish indeed converts the Spanish glossary entries correctly. However those words containing accents are still converted to Chinese!

Can't use your workaround though because there is no licence for MultiTerm Desktop 2009. Since the bug is on your side, could't you provide a one day licence for 2009, so that I can get things sorted?

Thx

Hi

Do you still have the MultiTerm 2009 installer? If yes, just install it. You should be able to use it.

Regards
Richard

Hi

Great to hear that it worked.

I will remove the installer again from our FTP as it would be anyway deleted from there.

I hope I was some help.

Regards
Richard

still not fixed? Dec 21, 2014

Hello,
I am having the same problem when converting MT 5 to MT Studio 2014.
How can it be that such an expensive tool does not provide a straigthforward solution?
You say this is a bug from 2011 wow...
I don't have 2009 installer, so, what can you suggest?
Thanks,
Sandra
