I just began using SDL Trados programs, and was wondering how I can save progress in editing and still be able to reopen the file in case further editing is needed; And if this is not possible, can I work on two projects at once in the sdl trados 2011 software?

Working on two or more projects is no problem. Just go to Projects View (in the left sidebar), in the list of projects right-click on the project you want to work on and select Set as active project. The files belonging to this project will be listed in Files View (left sidebar), where you can right-click on any file and select Open For Translation.
