SDL Open Exchange Store leads me to a general page instead of the App's page Thread poster: Sarah Jackowski

Hi, when I want to open an App's Page at the Open Exchange App Store, I am forwarded to a General Page (somehow, I can't add a screenshot to this post), which says : Sichern Sie sich die richtigen Inhalte! However, the web address seems to be the one of the app I want to download: http://www.translationzone.com/de/openexchange/app/glossaryconverter-476.html#46146 Same goes for the apps of the "developer competition", when I am on the App Store's main page and choose an app from the competition, I am not forwarded to the App's page but to the start page of "translationzone"... Anyone else having this Problem? ▲ Collapse | | | Natalie Poland Local time: 07:53 Member (2002) English to Russian + ... Moderator of this forum SITE LOCALIZER
Which browser do you use? I am asking, because I use Opera, and have been never able to download anything from the Open Exchange pages, despite enabled cookies, popup windows etc etc etc. (all attempts of downloading anything always result in "404 - page not found" error). However, everything works fine in Firefox. Therefore I would suggest trying with a different browser. Natalia

Hi Sarah I had this problem last week when I also wanted the Glossary Converter app. My usual browser is Maxthon and no matter what I tried I just went from one part of SDL site to another. I then tried it with Internet Explorer 8 and it worked fine. Regards Chris Foster | | | Shu Ma United States Local time: 22:53 English to Chinese + ... Developers should do more to test in more than one browser | Jan 11, 2015 |
Especially since chrome has become the most used browser in the world you would expect developers to do more testing in other browsers beside IE. | | | Walter Blaser Switzerland Local time: 07:53 French to German + ... This behaviour is not browser-specific | Jan 14, 2015 |
Sarah This behaviour is not browser-dependent. It is well-known and happens also for other pages of the SDL website, not only for the OpenExchange page. It is related to the SDL website making use of cookies. The first time you open SDL's website, you are prompted to indicate to which category of user you belong (the choices you mentioned). Once, you have made this choice, the website sets a cookie that remembers the choice you made, so that you don't get annoyed a second time with this request. If your browser is configured to not accept cookies or if you delete the cookies between sessions, you will again be directed to this page. I agree that this is annoying. The only way to avoid this is to accept cookies (at least for this website). In the meantime, SDL has added a warning message that is displayed on top of the web page informing you that this site makes use of cookies.
