Recognized Tokens

Does anybody know if their is a way to add 'Recognized tokens' to the TM, on the fly, or can it only be done using Project Settings > Language Pairs > Translation Memory > Settings > Language Resources > Variable List > Edit?

Also can the 'Recognised tokens' in a TM be exported/imported?
