I'm a prospective customer considering Trados, and I've recently found out that it will run only on Windows.
My question is, can you viably run Trados via virtualization with Parallels, VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox, or is it best to use a native Windows environment?

You have two choices:
1) Use Bootcamp. The advantage is that you don't need to buy additional software, the drawback is that your Mac runs either on MacOS or Windows and you need to reboot every time you want to switch from one to the other OS.
2) By Parallels or VMWare Fusion (both around 90 USD) and install it. This will allow you to run Windows in a virtual machine (VM) at the same time as MacOS. This is the preferred solution, it is more comfortable. Make sure you have at least 8 GB of RAM on your Mac if you want to use this solution, so that you can assign 4 GB to your Windows VM.
