My translations benefit from a career of over 25 years working in a range of small and global business. Decades of report writing, preparing briefs, drafting marketing communications and developing websites have provided me with the real-world business vocabulary not available from dictionaries. The experience has also given me an acute awareness of the importance of accuracy and achieving deadlines.

I live in Portugal, am educated at university level in Portuguese Language Studies and have completed 12 months study (City University, London) towards the Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation. Living the source language benefits me greatly in my translation assignments.

I have an unusual blend of engineering and business experience which has provided me with an extensive target language vocabulary (eg sales & marketing, planning & strategy, customer service, aerospace, petrochemical, electrical and electronic engineering, telecommunications, internet and web site design). This means that you get
a translation that reads as if it had been written in English rather than translated into English.

I try to ensure I retain time in my schedule to accept the occasional urgent assignment, but I only accept deadlines which I know I can achieve without compromising quality.
