This device provides a means of delivering illumination and coagulation during vitrectomy surgery. Indications include, but are not limited to treatment of proliferative diabetic retinopathy, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, retinal detachments, retinal tears, retinal holes, etc. This device transmits illumination to the intraocular space thereby allowing the surgeon to view ocular tissue by means of a microscope and lens system. Spot size can be varied by altering the distance between the tissue and the probe tip. Bipolar portion of this device is intended for use with a variety of low-powered, solid state ophthalmic bipolar generators. Do not operate at power settings greater than 15 watts or frequencies greater than 2.5MHz. Duty cycle of this device should not exceed 50% at 15 seconds. This device uses exposed conductor connectors. During use, contact with the uninsulated portion of the connector could create an electrical hazard to the patient or user.
