This particular slide may actually be viewed as adding complexity to the scenario, through the addition of SCSI channel and SCSI devices; ***however, their introduction is intended to position zSeries for reduced capital expenditure of the Linux on zSeries execution environment***, since the SCSI based devices traditionally are less expensive to acquire than the zSeries Count Key Data (CKD) FICON or ESCON attached devices necessary to meet the storage needs of z/OS.

I did not understand this sentence, could you rephrase it in a different way and substituting the verb "to position" with another clearer one?

For any customer to opt or go in for the combination of Linux+zSeries+z/OS, buying SCSI equipment will mean reduced investment. "Capital Expenditure" is the money a businessman spends on building an asset, which is what all this Linux+zSeries+z/OS acquisition is all about. In comparision to FICON/ESCON, SCSI offers more bang for the buck.
