Tony M: 8:58am Mar 14, 2006: I think it's actually 'largest single' and 'optical telescope' -- this construction is common in EN, as in "X is our largest single customer"; sometimes gets used (wrongly, IMO) in this sort of situtation where there is no real justification for 'single' -
