Erklärung:
I feel sure that this is indeed a typo for 'closest', but please note your translation really does need to express the idea of 'the one that is located nearest to...', since it is clearly being used to identify WHICH particular LED is involved, and not just vague proximity.
Note that this might be alongside, above, below... we have no way of knowing from simply 'closest'
