Allgemeines/Konversation/Grußworte/Briefe | | Englisch Begriff oder Satz: mostly he resided in a place called "Out" | This is Bill Bryson talking about his teenage son who theoretically lives at home but is never really there, since he is "out" all the time. But how on earth can you put that into elegant French that actually has a meaning?
A colleague suggested "dehors" ("Il residait dans un lieu qui s'appelle "dehors") but I don't like it as "out" does not mean that he is necessarily outside, simply not at his official place of abode.

You're all quite right, it's impossible to do it literally, but any suggestions within the scope of an 18 year-old non linguist (Bac S LV2 - who the heck prepares these exam papers?) are welcome in the next 24 hours!

Erklärung:
une suggestion. Bien entendu "demeurait" peut se remplacer par "habitait", mais je voulais conserver le même terme qu'au Bac. Bon courage !
