......coz i think both are Hauptstadt. I know we can add the name of the state or country to be specific. But are there no two different words for them.
For eg.
Washington DC is the national capital of USA.
Austin is a State Capital in USA (of the state Texas).
I had also seen Landeshauptstadt (for State Capital) ....but thats only in financial context. |

Das Wort Bundesstaat bezeichnet im politischen System der USA deren Bundesstaaten
Ein US-Bundesstaat ist einer der (derzeit) 50 Bundesstaaten, die mit dem District of Columbia die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika bilden.

Natürlich sind das an sich "Bundesstaaten", aber "Landeshauptstadt" ist ein gängiger Ausdruck:
"Der neue Gouverneur von Kalifornien heißt Arnold Schwarzenegger. Das gab die Wahlkommission in der Landeshauptstadt Sacramento am Freitag"
