Hi there

I am translating the text of a colour pallette and I am not at all sure how to put this.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Eike Seemann DipTrans: 5:31pm May 10, 2008: a little more context would be great! Is this the description of one or of two colours? Does it say 'mole-coloured', 'brandy-coloured'?
Debora Villa: 5:54pm May 10, 2008: Thanks - Thank you all. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of context, it's just a list of messages and colours for an online shop. So this will be the colour of a product but no idea as to what product. Thanks for your help
Eike Seemann DipTrans: 6:13pm May 10, 2008: then it could be two colours, one product with two colours, s.th. like 'talpa/ambra'...
Eike Seemann DipTrans: 2:30pm May 21, 2008: a German colleague had a similar problem with Black/Branston. 'Branston' can be associated with
'Branston pickle'. It might be the same project he is working on. In that case the chocolate sauce
interpretation for 'mole' might be relevant.
Eike Seemann DipTrans: 2:39pm May 21, 2008: However, I would contact the project manager or at least try to see a picture of the product in question, because two interpretations for 'mole' would be possible. Mole as in 'talpa', or mole as in 'chocolate'(and if it describes only 1 colour:'ambra'!)

ambra
Erklärung:
the colour of brandy is often described as 'amber';
'mole' here is perhaps a Mexican sauce made of chocolate and chili peppers (OED),
(as in 'guacamole')

'talpa' is a colour in Italian, but I don't think it is re-translatable as 'mole' (I may be mistaken...) ?

and 'mole-coloured' would be brown towards grey, unlike brandy... this is why I had the idea with the chocolate sauce which leans a little towards red, like brandy...

Zustimmung Eike Seemann DipTrans: I agree with 'talpa' (rather than my 'slightly' far-fetched chocolate sauce interpretation... :-)), I don't agree with 'grigio',though (there are many possible varieties of 'talpa'...), and I would not use 'brandy' either in an Italian text...

  -> Grazie Valeria, ma se' si parla di due colori diversi potrebb' essere anche la versione tua quella che e' giusta, e l'idea della salsa di cioccolato non e' forse troppo 'eccentrico'? Mi vengono i dubbi... :-)
