Si tratta infatti di un dialogo e bisognerebbe sapere che tipo e' la persona che parla.
Infatti chi e' two or three drinks ahead (grazie Rosemarye per la citazione del grande Bogart, "hard-boiled" pero', ricordiamocelo) potrebbe anche lui essere un miserable alcolizzato, no?
Ho trovato questa citazione in rete:

Anche nella citazione di Bogart il mondo e' troppo sobrio, no ha bevuto abbastanza.
Eviterei una esplicita connotazione negativa e visto il riferimento implicito a Bogart, forse sarebbe il caso di trovare una soluzione abbastanza letterale.
"Non e' nato alticcio..."
"Lo dico sempre che 'e nato troppo sobrio rispetto a noi..."

Ringrazio particolarmente Rosemarye perché sono sempre stato un lettore appassionato di Raymond Chandler e, ovviamente, un ammiratore di Humpry Bogart, attore che meglio di ogni altro ha saputo impersonare il mitico Marlowe sul grande schermo (persino meglio del mitico Robert Mitchum).
