Play: Players shoot the basketball in order. If the first player scores a basket, the next player must shoot the same shot he did. If the second player scores the basket, the next player tries the same shot. If a player misses the shot, he gets an "H", and the next player starts over with a shot of his choice. With each missed shot (only after the previous player makes it), players add another letter until they have spelled "HORSE" and are out.

Hi Yasmine, in such a case I've just found some links relating to the "gioco dell'asino", but nothing concerning the basketball. Look at this:
"Ricorrenti nell'episodio sono le due lettere "H-O", prima Hurley si trova vicino ad uno stag degli HoHo's (un dolce realmente esistente), poi di nuovo, mentre è nella casa di cura le vediamo apparire [immagine] e di nuovo, Hurley e Jack fanno **il gioco dell'asino (HOrse in inglese)** e Jack si ferma alle prime due lettere (H e O appunto). La "H" e la "O" sono rispettivamente l'ottava e la quindicesima lettera dell'alfabeto (8, 15 i numeri)

Fragesteller: thanks but no, "pallacanestro a cavallo" is "horse ball". This game is a variant of basketball, like "21" and is played with rules similar to the ones of "palla asino". If a player misses the shot he gets the first letter "H" and so on until one of the players loses by completing the word "H.O.R.S.E".

L'ultima apertura del flashforward vede Hurley che gioca da solo a basket nella palestra dell'istituto, quando ad un certo punto arriva Jack che dice di essere passato a fargli visita e propone di giocare ad "Horse"
