We used to talk about ambit claims and an ambit claim was a claim that nobody really believed in or thought ought to be awarded but was put in there to actually try and stretch the imagination.
An ambit claim would currently take the form of saying, ‘we demand one day of work and one day off’, ‘we demand twenty six holidays a year’, ‘we demand two hundred thousand.’
