One possible explanation is the growing concern of wealthy parents that if they leave too much to their kids, they will give them a nasty dose of “affluenza”, also known as “trust-fund baby syndrome”. “A lot of people say they are not going to pass on much of their wealth to their kids, for fear of spoiling them,” says Joe Toce of HSBC. “But as they get older, and grandchildren come along, they often end up passing on a lot to their descendants.” |
