Se estimaron los valores de cría de los animales pertenecientes a la raza INTA-Duroc, que efectuaron su prueba de performance entre los años 1983 y 1991. Se encontró una tendencia genética positiva para los caracteres velocidad de Crecimiento y Espesor de Grasa Dorsal. Se han realizado programas Fortran 77 para la cálculo de la consanguinidad individual y para simulación de poblaciones. Se han comparado distintos criterios de selección (CS) con el objetivo de encontrar el CS que genere la menor consanguinidad con la mayor respuesta genética (RG) posible. De los CS analizados, los que tienen en cuenta la información de parentesco generarían la menor consanguinidad, pero tienen un importante efecto sobre la RG. En general, no parece haber diferencias significativas entre los diferentes CS.

A positive genetic trend was found for Growth Rate and Backfat Thickness. A Fortran 77 program was generated in order to estimate inbreeding coefficient as well as to simulate different populations. Comparisons were made between Selection Criteria (CS) in order to find the SC that combines minimum inbreeding coefficient with maximum Genetic Progress (RG). Results show that CS that generate the least inbreeding were those that take into account information from relatives but, nevertheless, they have an important effect on RG. In general, there does not seem to exist significant differences between the CS considered.
