Übersetzungen Französisch > Englisch [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Luft- und Raumfahrt / Runways | | Französisch Begriff oder Satz: bretelle d'accélération | Note that this is related to redevelopment of an AIRPORT.
I know what this is in a motorway context, but can't imagine what it might be in the case of an airport. Possibly it should be "bretelle de (something else)", so any ideas from people familiar with airports would be welcome. Google only knows the term for roads also.
I've contacted the client, but the journalist in charge only tells me it's a "voie". And the people in the field are in deepest, darkest Africa, presumably beyond the reach of satellite phones (or is it just that a translation isn't worth it?).
Other aspects of the rehab. project include:
- consolidation of runway and taxiways
- building aircraft stands
- building a presidential aircraft hangar.
With a good possibility of getting future contracts to build a barracks building (this is a civil airport, btw) and the "bretelle d'accélération". Nowhere is there any mention of roads.
TALIA for any ideas. |

| Notiz(en) an den/des Fragesteller(s)Bourth: 2:13pm Dec 7, 2007: It might well be a "bretelle d'accès (something)". Any idea of a kind of "bretelle d'accès" that might have been confused with "accélération"? Unless it's just a slip of the mind, and the more familiar "bretelle d'accélération" got typed in by mistake. Bourth: 3:26pm Dec 7, 2007: PRE-CLOSING - Thanks for your contributions. Despite an impression of initial reluctance/non-understanding, the client came back with instructions to simplify it to "bretelle d'accès". I suspect they realized "accélération" was an error. I'll wait the regulatory period before closing, but I think there is little point in making more contributions. Drmanu49: 3:28pm Dec 7, 2007: OK too bad because there is an acceleration part of the strip in the Courchevel altiport for example. chris collister: 8:07pm Dec 7, 2007: Catapult launcher........ Only joking!

| acceleration/merging lane
Erklärung: Is there any reason why it couldn't be referring to the roadway around the airport? You quite often have a ring-road which goes to each terminal. The speed limit in front of the terminal would be 30kh but it might well be 90kh on a large ring-road. The approach section could suite logically be a "bretelle d'accéleration". They're not always for motorway access.
