Aalthough caisson is also translated as 'caisson' in English.
The pisé technique doesn't have a 'timber frame'. Rather it uses temporary flat panels (made of timbers of the appropriate length) to mould the adobe into a vertical wall, and when it has dried the shuttering/caisson is slid upwards to form a trough at the top to receive the next-higher layer of adobe - much like modern concrete buildings are built.
