Tech/Engineering - Architektur / town planning project | | Französisch Begriff oder Satz: batiments de trois étages sur rez-de-chaussée | I am proofing a translation in which the translator translated this as 'three-storey buildings on the ground floor'. That means nothing to me! I am not sure why 'Rez' has a capital letter here, and am looking into whether it might be a specific place in the location concerned - so far, haven't found anything. I have attempted to make this a bit anonymous, for reasons of confidentiality, so sorry if the first bit sounds weird. The term appears in the second paragraph below. I might be missing something obvious, or it might be an architectural term of which I am not aware. Perhaps it means 4-storey buildings - ground floor + three storeys. But this is not something I have ever come across before in French. It could, I suppose be catering for the differences between European and US floors - the Americans calling the ground floor the 1st floor, for example (never did get that one.... unless it means literally the 'first floor you get to when entering the building'!) but other than this I don't know what is meant here. Any suggestions?

Située dans la ZAC du Centre Urbain du Val d’Europe sur le territoire de la commune de .........., son positionnement face au futur Hôtel de ville de l’architecte (nom) – à la jonction des quartiers du parc et du lac lui procure une situation stratégique.
De forme elliptique et bordée par des bâtiments de trois étages sur Rez-de-chaussée, la place entend offrir un espace convivial à l’ensemble des usagers, en regroupant logements, commerces et restaurants.

However, after having gone over that posting, I'm inclined to go along with Bourth's answer on it, especially as I was looking for similar a question - whereby you can say R +1, R + 2, R + 3
(ie 2 storey, 3 storey, 4 storey) |
