Variation de brillant (angle de mesure 20°)
To give you a little more context, this chart is entitled Vieillissement Climatique, and then there are a couple subsections: "Peintures de finition brillantes avec vernis" and "Peintures de finition brillantes sans vernis". The other items in the chart are numbers and abbreviations. I know "Variation de brillant", but I'm a bit stumped on "angle de mesure 20°". Does this simply mean it's a 20° angle? |

| Notiz(en) an den/des Fragesteller(s)gad (asker): 5:28pm Jul 20, 2005: Could I instead say "20 degree angle of measurement"? Michele Fauble: 6:33pm Jul 20, 2005: Yes, '20-degree angle of measurement'. See my latest added note. - gad (asker): 6:54pm Jul 20, 2005: Thanks. gad (asker): 6:55pm Jul 20, 2005: I'll wait 24 hours, since I'm supposed to... Carmen Schultz: 7:52pm Jul 20, 2005: You can say 20 degree measurement angle or 20 degree angle of measurement (the version you propose sounds less anglo, more French and the second way sounds more anglo) - gad (asker): 8:41pm Jul 20, 2005: I am American and I think that 20° angle of measurement sounds more normal, personally. Thanks. Carmen Schultz: 11:49pm Jul 20, 2005: As I said either way is ok and there is no difference in meaning -- it is just how the noun is modified [measurement angle vs angle of measurement]; if one is trying to be concise, then measurement angle is preferred - Carmen Schultz: 11:51pm Jul 20, 2005: In fact, I had give you the other option you like in one of my comments to you in the question portion of Kudoz and someone else seems to be taking the credit - gad (asker): 4:05am Jul 21, 2005: I don't consider measurement angle more concise, and I will take a look at the complete responses before I close this question. In the meantime, I don't think any more notes up here are necessary or appropriate. Thank you for your understanding.

Gloss is measured in gloss units, which use the angle of measurement and the gloss value (e.g. 60 gloss = 29.8). A 60 geometry is recommended by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D523 standard for the general evaluation of gloss.
