Given that it is unlike "car" here has the usual French sense of "coahc/bus" or the English meaning, since the cars in the plant should be on the assembly line, not roaming about, I suspect it is a deformation (or Canadian usage?) for the wire-guided supply trolleys, wagons, carts, etc. usually known as "chariots filoguidés" that convey things to points of use within a factory.
I also have a feeling I've seen "car" used in reference to forklifts and the like, but given the frequency of the word it is hard to corroborate. "Car" IS used in French for "mine cars". |
