Maybe someone could explain, what means \\\"a l\\\'air libre\\\" in this phrase (the first sentence is given only as a context):
Pour les unités de toiture monoblocs d’un débit supérieur à 10 000 mètres cubes par heure d\\\'air et ne desservant pas des locaux réservés au sommeil, il est admis que le registre prévu au paragraphe 1 de l\\\'article CH 38 soit placé à l\\\'entrée de l\\\'air recyclé. Cette disposition ne peut être réalisée que si le caisson de mélange EST MIS A L\\\'AIR LIBRE par la prise d\\\'air neuf.
Does it mean: \\\"outside\\\"? Can I translate the end of this message as \\\"is placed outside and takes fresh air in\\\"? [the translation is into Lithuanian, so my English is here only as a \\\"medium\\\" language ;)]

Note: "Free air" is usually air that doesn't need any thing done to it(heating or cooling. That costs money. This whole thing is about the amount of permissible recirculation of air. Normally it is up to 90%. Usually, only 10% of the air is "fresh" at any time. The idea is to economize by bringing the "old" air back to the intake duct and thus returning it to the sleeping quarters.
My suggested translation:
"Cette disposition ne peut être réalisée que si le caisson de mélange EST MIS A L\'AIR LIBRE par la prise d\'air neuf."
"This arrangement can be effected only if the mixing box (air) is put in with the "free air" via the fresh air intake."

Note: a \"mixing box\" is usually located downstream from the air intake. This is where recycled air mixes with fresh air. |
