Übersetzungen Französisch > Englisch [PRO] Science - Geologie | | Französisch Begriff oder Satz: ferruginisations | Hi everyone,
I'm translating a scientific article on environmental sequence models used in Algerian oil fields.
The context is as follows: Les différentes expressions sont bien décrites et sont très variées : marmorisations, fentes de dessiccations, traces de racines, structures en polyèdres (slikenslides) et les **ferruginisations** en anneaux de Liesgang.
I looked up "ferruginisation" on the Grand Dictionnaire and IATE websites and they both suggested "ferruginations", but when I did a google search with this word, I only came up with two hits in English- both in articles written by non-native English speakers. Also, this word (or nothing close to it having a similar definition) appears in my Earth Sciences Dictionary (in English).
The Grand Dictionnaire defines "Ferruginisation" as "Individualisation du fer dans un sol à l'état d'oxydes ou d'hydroxydes libres (hématite, goethite) et se traduisant par une rubéfaction."
I'm struggling to find the right word for this in English and would greatly appreciate any help offered!
Kind regards,
Sara |

| | ferruginisation | Erklärung: I just googled the term and came up with 528 pages in English with the term 'ferruginisation' - maybe just a clitch in your search?

clitch = glitch in English of course!

You said you were looking for 'ferrugination' rather than 'ferruginISation' - maybe that's what it was. Anyway, glad to be of help! |

Fragesteller: I was trying both "ferrugination" since that's what IATE & GD suggested and "ferruginISation"- which was turning up French sites even when I was specifying sites in English. But when I tried again (after seeing your response), I got a ton of ghits in English. Don't know what happened :-) thanks again
