Top edges of bag 13' are aligned with air jet blade 23 and top edges of bag 22' are aligned with a second air jet blade 229. Pistons and rods 212 actuated by air pressure from inlet 210 push holding bars 213 and 214 against top edge of bags 13' and 22', holding these bags 13' and 22' tight to the air jet blade 23 and 229.

Another packager was faced with sealing bars that were sticking during the heat sealing of polyethylene bags. Magnaplate solved the problem for the two manufacturers by coating both the guides and the sealing bars with PLASMADIZE. This high-tech surface enhancement coating features unsurpassed wear resistance, excellent corrosion resistance and permanent non-stick dry lubricity for all base metals.
The PLASMADIZE coating prevented adhesive residue build up on the guides and eliminated sticking on the heat sealing bars. The coating also increased abrasion resistance on the parts and extended their wear life.

Flight bars are used to insert a product into a container that is going to be sealed:
New from Optima is the FB2 continuous flow bagger machine for high quality, top performance and low package costs. The new system works with polyethylene film to package disposable products such as baby diapers, sanitary napkins and panty shields. The products are taken directly from the stacker and moved to an infeed chain conveyor that uses flight bars to insert them into the tube film mouth. Film reel change-over may be done manually or automatically.

Although Brower admits that most machines today feature toolless changeover, he says that his machine accomplishes such changeover through the use of dovetail-mounted forming tools with forming stations opening to the front. “Most blister machines use **posts** around the tooling,” he says.

The solution was a type of blister pack that still uses a clay-coated, 100% recycled newsback card and clear plastic blister (thermoformed now of recycled polyethylene terephthalate glycol), but which uses a mechanical technique to adhere the two components. Essentially, **four posts or protrusions** are designed into the plastic thermoformed blister. Similarly, four matching holes are die-cut into the card. A unique blister packaging machine, called the Kordpak II, supplied by Kord Products Ltd. (Brampton, Ontario, Canada), guides the protrusions into the holes. It then applies pressure to flatten the protrusions so that they mushroom over the holes, thus mechanically locking the blister to the card. The Swedish-built machine has been running since March.

The clear plastic blisters are placed in the fixture cavities, the product is loaded in and the blister cards placed over the top within the spring loaded **guide posts.** The tray is pushed under the heated plate which is pneumatically lowered over the fixture for an adjustable period of time to complete the seals. Erklärung:
I think this is referring to the type of blister pack that has strips down each side that fold over to make the pack more secure (ie theft-proof). It would seem to make sense in this context in that they can modify the clamshell according to the product it contains.
I do admit, though, that this is a bit of a hunch.

What puzzles me is that in the ST is sounds like it's an accessory to the pack (ie some kind of clip), whereas a clamshell is a type of blister pack, so my hunch could be way off!
Beispielsätze:- A more secure package called a clamshell. This is used for theft-prone items like consumer electronics and consists of two pre-formed plastic sheets mated together or one sheet folded over onto itself and sealed together at the edges.
