Übersetzungen Französisch > Englisch [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Medien/Multimedia / Broadcasting - cable networks/cabling | | Französisch Begriff oder Satz: double épingle | This is from technical installation instructions for cabling/cable networks for a new installation for a broadcast company. I hope the following is enough context. Discussions with non-technical French native speakers only served to confuse me more! Even just an illustration of what it is would be very helpful.
under section 'Répartiteurs'

| Notiz(en) an den/des Fragesteller(s)Zaharanda: 7:53pm Aug 19, 2007: Thank you all of you for going to so much trouble. The reference and explanations you have provided are very useful. I did spend a long time fruitlessly searching the Infra+ website for some kind of illustration to help explain the term. I am nearly at the end of this enormous project and have learnt a great deal along the way but I really would have been lost without the help you have all so kindly given. :-) I'll give all of your suggestions careful consideration, it's hard to attribute points to just one person when in collaboration you help make the picture as a whole much clearer.

Erklärung: 'faradisé' means screened, I'm pretty sure about that.
I'm thinking (and it is only an informed guess!) that the 'double épingle' refers to some kind of 'double hairpin', whereby the edges of the screening don't merely overlap, but form an interleaving barrier, to provide superior electrical screening.
Unfortunately, 'double hairpin' doesn't seem to be used in this context, and I can't for the life of me think how we would normally describe this sort of double-overlap joint.
I have to say too that I am slightly puzzled at why they would go into this sort of level of detail at this particular point in the specification — it seems to me somewhat out of place. So maybe I'm just missing the point somewhere...

Erklärung: From a laborious search through www.infraplus.com I've found this which almost certainly answers your question, although it refers to a different product number:
http://www.infraplus.com/statiques/upload/ft/150xbt01%20ft_v...
Item 4 in the illustration is described as "4- Epingle de terre, positionnée côté câble, permettant un raccordement rapide et
sûr de 8 drains d’écran, et un jarretièrage / déjarretièrage facile."
Unfortunately, the English pages of the website are unavailable:
http://www.infraplus.com/ptype.php?rub_page=235
but I imagine you might find their translation via one of the pdf files linked from that page. (Sorry, but I don't have a wideband connection and it will take all night to download the pdf files and check them myself ...).
