From a document on a range of oral health and hygiene products:

"Appliquer une noisette de gel sur la zone à traiter...".

How would we naturally translate 'noisette' in UK English? I don't want to use 'blob' or 'knob' as some dictionaries suggested. I was thinking 'pea-sized amount' but I'm sure there's something more suitable, I just can't think what it is.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Erklärung:
If you don't like "a dab", then "a small blob" will do the trick, although that might be more American than British. Nobody talks about "a pea-sized blob" unless it's essential to specify that amount - and a "noisette" can be bigger, too.

Fragesteller: Hi Gabrielle. 'A small blob' sounds perfectly 'UK' to me, I just didn't want to use it because it sounds too informal. We most certainly do use 'pea-sized' in the UK, but referring to an 'amount' usually rather than a 'blob'. I realise a 'noisette' is probably bigger, which I why I wasn't totally happy with the pea-sized thing, although I think this wuld still be the best English equivalent, as long as the size isn't taken too literally. Thanks for your comments :-)
