Qualification of a dental surgeon in a blurry, hard-to-read fax. Can anyone shed any light on the acronym, and any on "parodontie" (assuming sp. is correct)? Any light shed much appreciated.

There is no entry for Parodontics in Merriam-Webster or on Granddictionnaire.com and only 15 Googles in English as opposed to 57,000 for Periodontics.

The nearest word I could get in the Harrap's New Standard Dictionary is paradonte, which means periodontal tissue. Given the present constraints of the bad fax copy (will the clients never learn to appreciate the translator's problems?), this is the best that I can come up with. As for DUECSP, it is best left alone as it seems to be a diploma or degree that is awarded in the matter of the Periodontal tissue implantation. Best solution is to ask the client himself.

Overview

The Implant Prosthodontic Section of the ICOI offers practitioners and laboratory technicians a focused environment for implant restorative education. It is not, however, limited to those solely involved in implant prosthodontics. All members of the ICOI, specialists as well as generalists, are included. The entire implant team benefits from annual meetings dedicated to implant prosthodontics, training courses, treatment planning forms and patient consent forms. Our Mission

To advance the field of Implant Prosthodontics through research, dental laboratory product and clinical practice. The IPS is the section of the ICOI that serves as a resource for all those interested in or practicing implant prosthodontics. It provides education through annual meetings, printed and other audio-visual materials. It provides funds for directed implant prosthodontic research through IDREF, ICOI's research foundation. The IPS also interfaces with the National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL) and other laboratory associations and laboratories worldwide.
