Übersetzungen Französisch > Englisch [PRO] Law/Patents - Bergbau und Mineralien/Edelsteine / mining | | Französisch Begriff oder Satz: droits miniers...renoncés ou réclamés | Hi all,
Just want to ensure that I'm using the correct lingo here. From:
"Vu l'Arrete Ministeriel n. 123 du 1 janvier 2000 portant publication des listes des droits miniers et des carrieres en vigueur confirmés, renoncés ou réclamés;"
I have: "...concerning the publication of the lists of mineral rights and valid and confirmed open-pit mines, relinquished* or reclaimed*;"
Are these the correct terms?

| | which lingo? | Erklärung: Irrespective of how you translate "renoncés ou réclamés", I'd have thought you were dealing with "mining and quarrying rights". To the best of my knowledge, a "carrière" is a place where sand or gravel is extracted (confirmed by my dictionary). Since the rock etc. extracted from a quarry is a mineral, I don't think you can talk about "mineral rights". "Mining" more properly refers to (precious) metals, gemstones, coal, etc. and in itself covers open-cast mines.
Between them, "mining and quarrying" (and don't forget, you can have underground quarries too) cover the range of what your text is addressing, seems to me.
Again, in "droits miniers et des carrieres en vigueur confirmés, renoncés ou réclamés", "droits" is qualified by both "miniers" AND "des carrières" (French doesn't have an adjective for "pertaining to quarries", otherwise it would read something like "droits miniers et carrièrifères/carrièresques"), as well as by the string of adjectives at the end.
confirmed valid, abandoned/relinquished, or (re)claimed mining and quarrying rights
Not sure about "(re)claimed" since "réclamer" can simply mean "claim" (in the same way as "dédoubler" or "redoubler" simply means "double"). I tend to think here it would mean "claimed".

Or "requested". |
