Französisch Begriff oder Satz:"sans projet"
The following is an extract from a document relating to the preliminary study to be carried out on the possibility of a mining project:
"Chaque fois que cela se justifie, l’étude identifiera, des variantes pour les activités du projet. Elle considèrera même la variante **« sans projet »** et les analysera en termes d’avantages et inconvénients."
I have no idea what a 'variante "sans projet"' could be. Can anyone shed any light?

However, this is more likely to be that the "sans projet" case is applied to the other variables and might take into account any known or likely changes in the environment that would occur were the project not to proceed. This is in contrast to just assuming that if a particular project didn't happen the status quo would continue.

In other words, they will do it for no other reason than for the sake of doing it.
sans projets = without any reason/plan behind it
consider the variation for its own sake

I really don't understand the context that well. My confidance level should have been a "2" more than a "3". I just thought that "sans projects" meant "without plans"; in other words, there were being considered and analyzed for their own sake (no plans/reason behind it).

If they do it "sans projet", it may mean they're doing just for the sake of doing it (exploration, etc). Is this really nonsense? Maybe, it is...but at least you know where I'm coming from. LOL.
