Französisch Begriff oder Satz: **s'allonger** (in this context)
This is an article saying how spas slowly came in our societies:
"Encore faut-il s'assoir (ou s'allonger) un moment pour mediter sur la chose"

Obviously there is an allusion to psychologists, as in French we use the expression "s'allonger" to refer to someone following a therapy. Would I keep this meaning in english if I use litteral translation? Thanks in advance

"sit down (on the couch?) a while..."

Erklärung:
anotehr, more syntactical idea, keeping teh question mark after 'couch', which, as a word, is pretty unambiguous if you definately want to keep the 'shrink' twist... which isn't blatantly obvious without more context

over analyze

Erklärung:
actually, psycho-analysis is the first thing that popped in my mind, but it might be a little too direct and strong. However, I don't think that a litteral version would keep the same connotation.

stop and think (or have a lie down and ponder) for a moment

Erklärung:
I think we are trying to find noon at 2 p.m., as French paysants say!= We are reading too much into it. The phrase simply plays on the stock expression 's'asseoir', which in this context means to stop and think, so the writer makes a slight correction and says: in fact lie down - to put it literally. And f course, you have to change the whole phrase to fit and still retain the play on words.
