Französisch Begriff oder Satz: amiante sous forme de tresse et joint
This is from the asbestos declarations section of a preliminary sales agreement. I've found "amiante sous forme de tresse" as "braided asbestos" but I'm confused by the "joint" because it seems to be used differently in the two sentences:

Le propriétaire est informé de la présence d’amiante sous forme de tresse et joint au brûleur de la chaudière. Cette tresse et ce joint sont donc à remplacer par un matériau synthétique.

Thank you for your help.

braided asbestos and asbestos gasket
Erklärung:
Taking inspiration from both IRAT and David S., just for clarity, this is how I would naturally express it.

Yes, 'gasket' is fine for a boiler, we don't use 'joint' in English in quite the same way as in FR.

Note that this is also often referred to as 'asbestos rope OR string', and I have even encountered '... cord'

Clearly, the braid will also be fulfilling some kind of sealing function, as around the door of a log-burning stove, for example, but perhaps in a way that is meant to be more flexible, or allow of opening and closing; whereas the 'joint', in common with most gaskets, is probably a more rigid affair, not intended to be very squishy or take up movement.

In fact, you might find that 'asbestos (braid and gasket)' would fit better than anything in your given context

Asbestos braided and asbestos joint

Erklärung:
I would repeat it since either braided asbestos is used as a joint, or there is also a "flat" (not braided) asbestos joint...

Zustimmung Bourth: Yes, I had one on my boiler, until it fell apart. Might not the braid BE the gasket, rather than sth else (serving what purpose?)

-> Thanks, Alex! As they've lisetd them separately, I suspect one is 'loose' braid (as used between burner assY; and body, for ex.), while the other might be a rigid gasket elsewhere
