Übersetzungen Französisch > Englisch [PRO] Social Sciences - Sozialwissenschaften, Soziologie, Ethik usw. | | Französisch Begriff oder Satz: corporatismes identitaires | I understand what the term means and what it refers too but have no idea how to express it in English. I read some articles about "mouvance identitaire" in English but this expression does not appear there nor does "identitaire" in the French or French-English dictionaries I tried to look it up. I've got it as a quote in French in a larger article about solidarity in late modern societies. The article is in Polish.
The whole sentence is:
"C’est ainsi que les sociétés présentes s’organisent en collectifs ou en corporatismes identitaires, régis par le système de la péréquation et des quotas, et soucieux d’une redistribution la plus rationnelle possible."
I will greatly appreciate your help. |

| | identity-based interest groups/organisations | Erklärung: I agree with the meaning implied by Denali's answer, but I think the term 'corporatism' is not a common one and could suggest the opposite of what is being suggested here - ie "business corporations".
My understanding of the source text is that it is a commentary on what is sometimes called 'identity politics': the old class-based solidarity movements have been replaced by alignments between people on 'identity' lines (ie. identifying as gay, black, white, Muslim, female...), and social justice thus becomes about each group having its proportionate parliamentary representation, allocation of university places etc etc.
The sentence would thus read "In this way, current societies are organised into identity-based interest groups or organisations, governed by a system of adjustments and quotas and preoccupied with the problem of the most rational possible distribution."

| Hinweis von Fragesteller an den AntwortendenThank you. Yes, the whole text is about solidarity in the late modern or postmodern world or rather the lack of it in some societies, and one of the examples were "corporatismes identitaires" with behaviours such as "soups identitaires" offered to the poor by the Bloc Identitaire in France (with pork so that poor Jews or Muslims could not have it :(. 4 KudoZ-Punkte wurden für diese Antwort vergeben |
