French term or phrase: colocataire
This is in an Excel file concerning the implementation of modifications to a vehicle hire contract. The term "colocataire" occurs very many times, and I've so far resorted to "co-hirer". Have you a better suggestion?

joint tenant (some write 'joint-tenant')
Explanation:
This translation is for the U.S. and Canada.

'Joint tenant' applies to dwellings and automobiles. In UK English,
they use 'roommate' and 'flatmate'; I once had a flatmate ... even
if she wore a 40DD bra! LOL

co-rentor

Explanation:
Rentor is seen in legal documents so "co-rentor" might be possible.

neutral  B D Finch: As the Asker has mentioned "hire", it is clear that this is UK English, so it is hirer, not renter. Note the spelling: renter, not rentor.//Suggest you consult a dictionary.

-> No I don't but when it is found in several not to say numerous official documents drafted by different lawyers, barristers, etc. the word might just exist and be used !

neutral  Jean-Claude Gouin: @ chris ... Don't always believe what you read, especially in contracts. Why? Because they're written by lawyers! Ninety-nine percent of all lawyers give the rest a bad name!
