The creative use of "umtopfen" also suggests the writer is using a very liberal style & terminology. Do you have more context (what kind of chip it is that can't be "abgekündigt")? -

The chip is a System on Chip (SoC) that may be used in a FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays). The main gist of the article is how adaptable they are & easy to customise.
