As the guide rollers are mounted eccentrically, they can presumably be rotated into contact with the guide rails in either of two directions. In the one direction, the force of the guide rail against the guide roller would tend to loosen the fastening screw, while in the other direction it would tend to tighten it. The latter arrangement should be use to prevent accidental loosening.

A bit more elaboration: what matters is not the static force but the dynamic force from movement of the guide rail and rotation of the roller. The same principle explains why bicycle pedal shafts and crank axle bearing cups have right-hand threads on one side and left-hand threads on the other side. |
