In a letter from Sigmind Freud to his son-in-law regarding the sickness of one of his grandsons:

"Unser Heinerle macht uns wieder Sorgen. Nach der Operation vom Semmering zurück hat er begonnen hoch zu fiebern seit einer Woche jetzt zwischen 39 u 40, wenig Symptome dabei ausser Kopfschmerzen u Milzschwellung. Der Verdacht ging auf einen mitgebrachten Paratyphus, scheint sich aber nicht zu bestätigen, einige Untersuchungen stehen noch aus. Gestern war Konsilium mit Prof. Knöpfmacher, den ich heute auch privat gesprochen u dessen Ansicht ich Dir mitteile. Er meint, es sei sein Drüssenfieber, die einzige Unsicherheit, ob eine bazilläre Infektion damit verbunden ist oder nicht. Das erstere hielten alle Kinder trotz der langen Dauer des Fiebers. Im Falle der **miliaren Bazilleninfektion** kämen doch 50% der Kinder durch. Der Fall sei ernst, aber man solle hoffnungsvoll sein; dem Vater schreiben, aber nicht telegraphieren."
