Übersetzungen Deutsch > Englisch [PRO] Medical - Medizin (allgemein) / prescription dosages | | Deutsch Begriff oder Satz: 1-0-1 | On a clinical trial CRF in German, the dose of a drug is listed as 1-0-1, which I understand to mean '1 tablet morning and evening'. My real question is:
Do American physicians (and British, for that matter) use this 1-0-1 jargon? Is it prescription jargon (shorthand)? |
| | | b.i.d. | Erklärung: meaning twice a day or "bis in die"
And yes, this abbreviation is common jargon used in hospitals all over the US (I don't know about the UK). However, I order to clarify, the times of day would have to be added. Meaning you would say, "bid morning and evening".
Whereas I think in Germany you would rather stick to, "zweimal am Tag" or "morgens und abends"

You are right, Holly, 1-0-1 is not used in the USA only in Germany. I have translated it many times before. |

Fragesteller: b.i.d. is indeed used in the USA, but I am told 1-0-1 is not. Can you confirm that this is what you meant in your response?(ie., that 1-0-1 is not common US usage?) Thanks for confirming and for your original answer!
Holly
Fragesteller: Thanks for your extensive answer. I really appreciate it since you were the only one to reply to my SOS. Thanks for taking time to reply to my query for clarification. I surely appreciate it.
