I'm guessing something like "remedy/medicine" or similar, but this whole field is new to me.
C1, C2, C3 seems to denote batches of the goo they've whacked up for the study particpants. Anyone know if this is a standard designation for 'batch' or similar?
TIA for your help

Explanation:
Each remedy -like rhus toxicodendron or belladonna- are homeopthic remedies.

potency/potencies

Explanation:
More or less an educated guess.

The strength of homoeopathic "remedies" is measured in potency - the degree of dilution of the active ingredient. It could well be that C1 to C3 are different potencies of the same "concoction"

Reference information:
Several potency scales are in use in homeopathy. Hahnemann created the centesimal or "C scale", diluting a substance by a factor of 100 at each stage. The centesimal scale was favored by Hahnemann for most of his life. A 2C dilution requires a substance to be diluted to one part in one hundred, and then some of that diluted solution diluted by a further factor of one hundred. This works out to one part of the original substance in 10,000 parts of the solution.[2] A 6C dilution repeats this process six times, ending up with the original material diluted by a factor of 100−6=10−12.

The German potencies C1, C2, C6 etc are 1C, 2C, 6C etc in English.

Homeopathic medicines, made from animal, vegetable, mineral, and intangible substances, start from a solution of standardized chemical strength. To make a C potency one part of such a solution is added to 99 parts of the diluent (water and alcohol) and the dilution is thoroughly succussed (vigorously agitated by shaking). It is called the 1C potency because it is a 1:100 dilution of the original solution (C for centesimal). Then 1 part of the 1C potency is added to 99 parts of diluent. Again the solution is succussed. This new dilution is the 2C potency because it has been prepared by a 1:100 dilution performed 2 times. The strength of the 2C potency is 1/10,000 of the original solution (1/100 of 1/100). Sequential potencies are made similarly, 3C from 2C, 4C from 3C, etc. A 200C potency means this process of dilution and succussion has occurred 200 times, a 1M potency means that this process has occurred one thousand times.
