I made the mistake in the above-mentioned job of thinking that ARGE was a company name. Duden does not list ARGE in upper case (although Alpmann Brockhaus and Ernst do). I was grateful to the client (very large international German construction company) for pointing this out. I made the suggestion of \'group contractor\' and they agreed that it was what they generally used.

ARGE = ARbeitsGEmeinschaft. Es gibt dafür vielleicht eine bessere Übersetzung als "Labor pool".

Bei einem Bauprojekt ist \"ARGE\" immer ein Zusammenschluss mehrerer Firmen, die gemeinsam dieses Projekt ganz oder teilweise ausführen. Der Ausdruck in Klammern wäre also \"including pro rata work of labor pool\"
