the term seems to be used exclusively for public sector, especially educational, instititutions as part of their annual 'rendicontazione'. For the latter, we would probably say 'financial return' or similar, but for the actual statements of income and costs, and assets and liabilities, I think we say 'accounts' in English even for non-commercial operations.
